This week I went out to the forest with the local organization Bark. They are an amazing group dedicated to preserving and protecting the Mt. Hood National Forest. My class spent time in second growth stands last cut 80 years ago and in stands that were subject to logging four years ago. The picture shows the continued impact of these practices on the landscape even after four years.
If you are looking for opportunities to engage in environmental issues Bark provides many opportunities. They are a volunteer-drive, bottom up organization and are one of many great places to continue your engagement in environmental social change work.
