Portland Area Rethinking Schools has a 25 year history of working to support public education and progressive reform in the schools. We are teachers, parents, students, community activists and teacher educators who believe excellent and equitable public schools are essential for all students to reach their potential and for the creation of a just and democratic society.

SEE is dedicated to strengthening progressive values inside OEA, promoting quality and culturally relevant pedagogy to provide the best possible education for Oregon’s students, and building a strong OEA that can fight for the rights of our membership.

This is an inclusive union of students with the objective to create permanent, long overdue educational changes. We intend to do this through direct action, legal mediums and the empowerment of student voices. We stand firmly against bullying, discrimination, racism, sexism and the existing educational system falling apart before our eyes.
In this world, we are the living image of the impossible: of a youth dieing to learn and willing to fight for our future. We students carry a new world in our hearts, that world is growing this second.

We believe ALL children deserve an equal opportunity to succeed in life. Education is the key that unlocks the door to success. Far too many children, through no fault of their own, aren’t getting the education they need to make it in life. We are passionately committed to righting this wrong.
Our mission is to ensure that all children, regardless of their background, graduate from high school prepared for, and with access to, a college education.

Teaching for Change provides teachers and parents with the tools to create schools where students learn to read, write and change the world.
Teaching for Change operates from the belief that schools can provide students the skills, knowledge and inspiration to be citizens and architects of a better world — or they can fortify the status quo. By drawing direct connections to real world issues, Teaching for Change encourages teachers and students to question and re-think the world inside and outside their classrooms, build a more equitable, multicultural society, and become active global citizens.

Improving the lives of vulnerable children and families through legal representation and advocacy in the courts, legislature, schools and community. Our vision is that all children and families in Oregon receive the support they need to be safe and to be successful members of the community.
