Communities of Practice (CoP) allow for students, faculty, community partners and alumni to engage in problem-posing, problem solving, reflection and coordination. They are organized thematically and connect to a wide variety of courses offered throughout the University Studies program rooted in addressing real problems in our communities. They are a new programmatic effort to extend engagement with students beyond the classroom and help facilitate their ongoing civic engagement and involvement in positive social change. Space will exist for sharing resources, making connections, strategic re-evaluation, problem-posing and refining the collective approach of relevant courses so as to maximize impact and effectiveness.
